Russia and Zimbabwe to expand cooperation in the energy sector On March 6, a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Zimbabwean counterpart Amon Murwira was held in Moscow. During the meeting, the ministers discussed further strengthening of relations between Russia and Zimbabwe. The parties discussed strengthening political dialogue, exchanged views on the issues of reforming the UN Security Council, the situation in the Sahara-Sahel zone and the Great Lakes Region, and noted the importance of consolidating the efforts of Moscow and Harare in favor of forming a more equitable multipolar world order. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the ministers paid special attention to the tasks of expanding and diversifying mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment cooperation. In particular, the parties agreed to improve the legal framework, jointly implement promising projects in geological exploration, energy, infrastructure, and information and communication technologies. The outcome of the negotiations between Lavrov and Murwira was the signing of the Russian-Zimbabwean Declaration on ways and means of countering, mitigating and compensating for the negative consequences of unilateral coercive measures. #AREA#Africa#Russia#Zimbabwe
