👨‍💻 80/20 Rule for Upwork Proposals The Pareto Principle (80/20 rule) teaches us to focus on the vital few, not the trivial many. I apply this to Upwork proposals: 💬80% should be about the client’s project 💬 20% (or less) about you Clients don’t care about your long bio — they care about what you’ll do for them. Here’s one of my winning proposals: “<Client Name>, it seems the issue may be with the mod_rewrite Apache module. I'd be happy to fix this for you. It shouldn’t take more than an hour to resolve.” ✅ Pinpoints the problem ✅ Shows I understand their issue ✅ Gives an estimate to help them decide fast ✅ No boring bio, no qualifications, no fluff Keep it short. Focus on the fix. That’s the 80/20 way.
