Stay Alert Against Impersonation Scams Government officials will never contact you via phone call, SMS, WhatsApp, or Telegram to: 1. Request that you transfer money; 2. Ask for your bank login credentials or OTPs; 3. Instruct you to install apps from unofficial app stores or unknown links; 4. Redirect or transfer your call to the Police. If you receive messages claiming to be from the government via SMS, WhatsApp, or Telegram, always verify that SMS messages are sent from the official gov.sg SMS Sender ID* and ensure that WhatsApp or Telegram messages are from verified or official government accounts. Be cautious of unofficial accounts, suspicious links, unexpected offers, and unusual requests received through messaging platforms. Scammers may use your personal information (such as your name or NRIC number) to appear convincing. Do not assume someone is legitimate simply because they know your personal details. If you are unsure whether something is a scam, call the 24/7 ScamShield Helpline at 1799 for assistance. *Exceptions apply for National Service call-ups and emergency services.
