🇿🇦March 21 — Human Rights Day in South Africa This day commemorates the трагic events in Sharpeville on March 21, 1960. Police opened fire on thousands of peaceful protesters opposing apartheid laws. 💔69 people were killed, and over 180 were injured. 📘What were the Pass Laws? They required Black South Africans to carry passbooks containing personal details, residence permits, and employment records — to be shown on demand to authorities. 👥What happened that day: Between 5,000 and 10,000 protesters gathered peacefully outside a police station, deliberately without passbooks, ready to be arrested.
