Today we wish to clearly and unequivocally express our solidarity with the Palestinian people — a people who have lived for decades under occupation, violence, and systematic injustice. The tragedy unfolding in Palestine before the eyes of the entire world represents one of the most severe humanitarian catastrophes of our time. Destroyed cities, devastated infrastructure, millions of displaced people, and tens of thousands killed testify to a tragedy of enormous proportions. Particularly heartbreaking is the fact that a very large number of the victims are children. Children have been killed in their homes, in schools, in refugee camps, and even while trying to find food or water. Behind every number stands a human life, a family, and a tragedy. An increasing number of jurists, historians, and humanitarian organizations are warning that what we are witnessing represents a continuous genocide against the Palestinian people. Nevertheless, despite all the evidence and urgent warnings, the international community has shown that it is unable to stop this tragedy. While diplomatic discussions continue and statements are issued, civilians continue to die and an entire people is being pushed into a humanitarian catastrophe. Therefore, today we call on the international community and all responsible political actors to urgently move toward a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian question.
