In fact, chosen by God to spread the teachings of salvation among all nations, tribes and languages, showing the approaching of the day of the extreme and tremendous judgment – enough to be called the Angel of Judgement, of which his cry was “Timete Deum et date illi honorem quia venit hora judici eius” (Fear God and give Him honour, for the hour of his judgment is coming) -. He inspired terror in the souls of all listeners, he detached them from the earthly affections and excited them to the love of God. And in the exercise of this apostolic mission, this was his constant standard of living: everyday, in early morning, a Sung Mass; everyday he made a speech to the people; he always observed an inviolable fasting, as long as there was no urgent necessity; he never refused to anyone holy and just advices; he never ate meat, nor wore any linen underwear. He sedated the disputes of the people, and re-established the peace among the divided kingdoms; and when the uncut tunic of the Church was split by a painful schism, he worked hard to restore and maintain the union. He proposed to end the Western schism, which had lasted for 39 years (from 1378 to 1417), deposing the three Popes who claimed the tiara, and declared himself in favor of Martin V. He shone with every virtue, and, walking with simplicity and humility, he received with kindness and embraced his detractors and persecutors. Through him divine power worked many wonders and miracles confirmed his life and vibrant preaching. In fact, very often through the imposition of his hands, the sick recovered health; he drove the unclean spirits out of the bodies; he restored the hearing to the deaf, speech to the dumb, sight to the blind; he healed the lepers; he raised the dead. Finally, worn out by years and illnesses, the indefatigable herald of the Gospel, after having traveled to many regions of Europe, happily ended the course of his preaching and of his life in Vannes, Brittany, on the 5th of April 1419. Pope Callixtus III inscribed him in the list of Saints on the 3rd of June 1455 in the Dominican church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva in Rome.

SAINT VINCENT FERRER, CONFESSOR Vincent, born around the year 1350 in Valencia, Spain from an honest family, he showed since his very first years the maturity of an elder. After considering the capacities of his intelligence, the fragility of such an obscure century, he received at the age of 18 the religious habit of the Order of Preachers; and after doing the solemn profession, he assiduously applied himself in the sacred letters and obtained the cumlaude, the degree in theology. He immediately had permission from his superiors to preach the word of God, he started to confound the perfidy of the Jews and to refute the errors of the Saracens with so much force and efficacy, that he lead a great multitude of infidels to the faith of Christ, and recalled many thousands of Christians from sins to penance, from vices to virtues.
