The story of his conversion is undoubtedly the most significant and important grace, among the others uknown to us, obtained through the “Miraculous Medal”, that our Lady has gifted the 27th of November 1830 to St. Catherine Labouré, in the famous apparition occured in the Parisian convent of the Daughters of Charity, in Rue du Bac. The conversion of the Jew Ratisbonne had immediatly high intereset all over the World, also thanks to the publciations of the touching autobiographical letter that he wrote, the 12th of April 1842, to his friend priest Dufriche-Desgenettes, parish priest of the famous Parisian church of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires (where att that time lived Ratisbonne’s older brother, Théodore, who by few years converted to Catholicism and became priest). Since then Sant’Andrea delle Fratte, mostly known as the Roman Sanctuary of Madonna dei Miracolo, is considered one of the most important international Marian Sanctuaries.
