🇨🇳 China blocked Meta from buying the AI company Manus for 2B dollars. Regulators in China reviewed the purchase and decided it violated their foreign investment rules. They ordered everyone involved to cancel the transaction immediately. Manus began in China but moved its headquarters and key team to Singapore last year after raising money from a US investor. Meta had already started integrating parts of Manus technology into its own AI systems. Chinese officials described the purchase as a conspiratorial effort to drain the country's AI talent and resources.
