The Islamic Republic of Iran has brought this matter to the attention of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the members of the Security Council of that organization, as well as the International Maritime Organization, and has called for a firm and serious condemnation and a response from international institutions and responsible governments in the face of the criminal action carried out by the United States against international maritime transport. While warning of the extremely grave consequences of this illegal and criminal U.S. action, the Islamic Republic of Iran insists on the need for the immediate release of the Iranian vessel, its sailors, its crew, and their families. There is no doubt that the Islamic Republic of Iran will use all means at its disposal to defend Iran’s national interests and security, and to protect the rights and dignity of Iranians.
