Wow. While the finding that black babies die more often with white doctors is fake, the same paper found that white babies die more often with black doctors (which presumably *doesn’t* go away with a birth weight control) and censored it because it “undermines the narrative”

There are only 3,000 Klan members in the modern US, or 0.00086% of the population. I assume this is meant to apply to a much larger group than the literal Klan, and far fewer people would agree if the author were honest about this.

To explain further: the reason for the paper’s headline “finding” is that white doctors are more likely to be specialists/elite and so are assigned low birth weight babies, who are more likely to die. This obviously cannot explain why white babies are more likely to die with black doctors.

Rather than dismantling the American empire, Trump should have *used it*. Push anti-immigration parties in Europe. Get conservatives elected across the empire. Set up right wing patronage networks through USAID. When you gain power, don’t set the power on fire.

Instead, he’s basically done the opposite. By attacking our allies, he’s made right wing parties seem like traitors to their countries and handed nationalism to the left. Look at Canada. I really don’t think this is 5D chess. I think he’s not very good at his job.

Many Democrats don’t care about reducing harm. They care about avoiding responsibility for harm. If the state executes an innocent person, they feel responsible for that. If ten murderers are let loose and murder 20 more people, well that’s just a tragedy. Like an earthquake.

People who trust rules and norms rather than incentives are so funny to me. “Doctors took the Hippocratic Oath! They would never do bad things.” “But judges swear to uphold the constitution!” They think all these ceremonial things hold real power, that they’re self-enforcing.

Beyond the grotesqueness of naming a law after a murderer, this proposal is insane. It incentivizes doctors to prescribe as many expensive treatments as possible. It incentivizes fraud.
