ALBANO AND ALBANOPOLIS IN ANCIENT INSCRIPTIONS In the ancient town of Stobi near the town of Gradsko (Veles) Vardar, was found the inscription of the patronymic Albano , and the other previous inscription in Gorno Sonje of Scupi , where we find for the first time the toponym Albanopoli (Illyrian city in Albania ) in North Macedonia. The name Mikatus is conisdered an Illyrian name. It appears in the inscription of the village Middle Konjare Shkup (Dragojevic-Josifovska 1982: 133).
