New paper published in Nature: "Whole-genome ancestry of an Old Kingdom Egyptian" Researchers sequenced the whole genome of an adult male excavated at Nuwayrat, radiocarbon dated to 2855–2570 calBCE, shortly after the unification of Egypt. The body was buried in a ceramic pot within a rock-cut tomb, likely aiding in the preservation of his DNA. Genetic analysis indicates that the majority of his ancestry derives from a combination of North African Neolithic and Mesopotamian/Levantine sources. He is predicted to have had brown eyes, brown hair, and dark to black skin pigmentation. Uniparental haplogroups: mtDNA haplogroup: I9 Y-haplogroup: E1b1b1b2b~
