Closest Populations to Northern Italians (using this set of populations) 1.Spanish.HO 2.Cretan.DG 3.Southern Italians Interesting Observations: •Northern Italians are closer to Cretans then Southern Italians probably due to less natufian ancestry. •Northern Italians are closer to Turks and Lebanese than to Ashkenazi Jews probably due to inbreeding and genetic isolation in the latter community. •Northern Italians are closer to Armenians and Russians then Basque again probably due to lack of gene flow caused by mountain isolation in this case. Next we will release a more detailed fst chart of populations only in their immediate region so we can now who is closest to them.
