🇺🇸 The Fox News Channel, citing a Pentagon document, has reported that the US armed forces will reduce their staff by another 24,000 people. In this case, we are not talking about the physical dismissal of all personnel, but about the reduction of unfilled positions and the transfer of people to vacant posts. In total, the US defence establishment plans to remove several thousand positions in airmobile and mechanised units, as well as advisers for training foreign armies in connection with the reduction in the scale of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The main reason for the restructuring is the growing shortage of personnel: last year the Pentagon failed to fulfil its plan to draft 41,000 recruits. According to officials, 77 per cent of local youths would not consider joining the US military at all, and another 11 per cent do not pass because they are overweight. 📌 All of this again demonstrates the importance of a mixed type of military manning in the current realities - even the US, with its enormous military budget, is having trouble recruiting. Today, wars still require the deployment of huge numbers of people, as seen in the SWO or the escalation in the Gaza Strip. The concept of "small, compact armies" for highly mobile police operations has failed: in a larger or smaller conflict, states with such armed forces will quickly find themselves without men and unable to carry out combat missions, at best relegating them to stronger allies.
