Russian and US satellites may collide in orbit Two non-maneuverable orbital spacecraft of Russia and the United States may collide on 28 February at an altitude of about 600 kilometres. The collision may result in the formation of a large amount of debris. We are talking about Cosmos-222, an electronic reconnaissance satellite that was launched from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome on 25 November 1992 with a Cyclone-3 rocket. The TIMED spacecraft, launched into space on 7 December 2001, may also be involved in the accident. It studies the dynamics of the Earth's upper atmosphere.
