World's First Guru: Born to the Father of Astrology: He was born as Krishna Dvaipayana, the divine son of Rishi Parashara - who is also revered as the father of astrology and author of the foundational text Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and Devi Satyavati. His name holds beautiful meaning. "Krishna" refers to his dark complexion, and "Dvaipayana" means island-born, since he was born on a small island in the river Yamuna. That is how he came to be known as Krishna Dvaipayana. But Krishna Dvaipayana was not just a sage he was an enlightened being with a timeless mission to preserve, organize, and pass on the divine knowledge of the Vedas. In those ancient times, the Vedas were a single, vast ocean of spiritual wisdom, passed orally from Guru to disciple.
