Not even five years ago, Europe was regarded across the rest of the West and the world as the place young adults aspired to travel, spend their summers, backpack and work in vineyards, visit castles and cathedrals, and fall in love. Young women were safe to travel alone – albeit with common sense and caution, as is always wise no matter whether one is at home or abroad – but today, even European native women are afraid to walk alone, be out after dark for a run or a night out with friends... Will we women stay silent as our birthright and freedom are denied by those we did not elect to speak and make decisions on our behalf? Or will we come together in unity to protect each other, our nations, our families and friends? And if Instagram or anyone else has a problem with these comments and questions, then I cannot think of a more anti-woman and anti-feminine stance and reaction.
