Windows XP activation has been cracked. Microsoft's algorithm for verifying Windows XP product keys has been cracked, meaning that it will be possible to generate valid Windows XP activation codes without an internet connection, even if Microsoft has already shut down the XP activation servers. Microsoft has long stopped supporting Windows XP and does not recommend that users reinstall Windows XP in 2023. However, if you have a need, such as running special software that only works on XP, then the closure of the activation server will no longer be a major obstacle. Related: Arstechnica
