Google says that it spent the last 6 months on improving the stability, reliability, and performance of the Android Emulator in Android Studio. This initiative, named Project Quartz, has resulted in 30% fewer crashes when using the Android Emulator in the latest stable version of Android Studio, according to data from developers who opted in to sharing crash details. Google also reduced its open issues by 43.5% from 4,605 to 2,605. 17% of these issues were fixed during Quartz while the remainder were closed as either obsolete, previously fixed, or duplicates.
