Niall O’Hara has pointed out the audience participant in this clip is Micheál Frain who unsuccessfully stood for Labour in 2014 and Fine Gael in 2009. He's now being promoted as one of two independent options by RTÉ for Ballaghaderreen voters. The other guy's a foreigner. You can see him at 53:51 at the community meeting. Frain told Katie Hannon that he wished Ballaghaderrenn could have proved a successful role model for the plantation if only the government had just provided a few extra services for the planters. Well happy days because Hannon managed to Jim'll Fix It for Ballaghaderren to get that school extension they need so now the town can continue being planted. 😏 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

It would cost too much money to deport rejected asylum seekers but we can spend billions accommodating infinity numbers of them in perpetuity which only ever attracts more. -Fine Gael logic. 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

There are twenty three homeless charities in Dublin with over 900 employees and none of them ever suggest it might be a good idea to try to prevent foreigners flying in only to immediately register as homeless by returning them to their home countries. Because that might just help solve the problem... According to Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien, between 30%-40% of people who are registering as homeless in Ireland every month are newly arrived immigrants with no means to support themselves. 🔗x.com 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

Fine Gael TD Barry Ward: The new EU pact on asylum will not oblige Ireland to detain certain categories of asylum seekers. Previously, I reported that the new EU pact introduces a mandatory border procedure which member states at the EU's external borders must implement. The pact says certain asylum applicants must be refused entry or detained in designated zones at the borders until their applications are processed including those who are considered a danger to national security or public order, have misled authorities with false information or withheld information, or are from a country with a refugee grant rate below 20%. But according to Barry Ward, it's not mandatory at all and Ireland can opt out of that bit so I guess they're only planning on implementing the shit bits about relocating at least 30,000 of the migrants trafficked across the Med to Ireland annually or being forced to pay at least €600 million to refuse them. They're not winning me over. #IrelandOptsOut 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

They've been pumping out articles in the last while about the current "threat to democracy" — a toxic environment politicians supposedly now face and the fear it will deter people from entering politics (see here & here), but this is how Áine Ní Chonaill was treated as far back as 1998 when she was calling out the abuse of the asylum system. Ní Chonaill is a mild-mannered and well-spoken former teacher from Cork who dared to engage the political system by creating a party called the Immigration Control Platform after becoming disturbed by the abuse of the asylum system which nobody else would address. Her reward was instant vilification in the media and attacks by ANTIFA to shut down her rallies and scare off any support. It worked to a degree as the energy on the streets today is a long over-due delayed reaction against a system which seeks to suppress any real political opposition to it with no complaints entertained. They created the toxic environment. 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland
