Turns out the "new Irish" in Wexford have a preference for English place names and we need to submit to their tastes according to Fianna Fáil councillor Barbara Anne Murphy. Reminds me of the last planters. 🔗archive.is 👉🏻Join Late Stage Ireland

As for Varadkar resigning, save this clip for when the quote unquote real reason for his decision *hard swallow* wants to emerge. The rest is noise. 👉🏻Join Late Stage Ireland

Fine Gael TD Colm Brophy asks Coimisiún na Meán Chair Jeremy Godfrey whether the media commission has an ability to censor GBTV [I think he means GB News] to the extent Russia Today has been censored on an EU-wide level. Brophy accused the British TV channel of putting people on air "who would not necessarily get a platform" on Irish media. 👉🏻Join Late Stage Ireland

Joint Committee Chair Colm Brophy (FG) cuts Senator Sharon Keogan off as she tries to inquire about the appointment of Síona Cahill as the primary media officer for Coimisiún na Meán and the potential for political biases to impact decision making within the media commission. Keogan remarked that "the censorship in this room" was "absolutely unbelievable." 👉🏻Join Late Stage Ireland

Sinn Féin TD Ruairí Ó Murchú raises concerns about the Zionist Lobby exerting improper influence over the type of content Ireland's new media commission will censor. "I suppose if you deal with the issue and the slaughter that's going on in Gaza at this point in time, you'd always have a fear that particularly when you're talking about on some level American-owned companies and whatever else, that certain views may be more accepted than others." "I suppose we don't want a difficulty where we have an element of one-sided censorship (for want of a better term) and we need to make sure all reasonable political views can be expressed reasonably, and we don't have a case where certain flaggers are trusted beyond others, and we've seen, for example, a pro-Zionist lobby that's incredibly powerful and has serious reach online. So, I would hate to see that that would have an impact." 👉🏻Join Late Stage Ireland

It's been pointed out to me a few times where RTÉ now edit existing reports with a tiny 'updated' flag but completely change the content, like in this case where they removed all evidence it was they who promoted today's NGO protest in the first place. If you look at my previous post, and click the link to RTÉ, you will see my earlier screengrabs no longer reflect what you now see on the webpage. Worth pointing out because we heard a RollingNews editor tell Newstalk last week that national media outlets are deliberately ignoring protests against asylum seekers being dumped in communities around the country in the hope they "go away." Newstalk's Barry Whyte reported the NGOs got around 100 people out to their protest today which is about the same number of locals who protested against an old Tayto factory being converted into a plantation centre in Coolock yesterday. RTÉ didn't cover that protest but they advertised the NGO one today. This is what manufacturing consent looks like.

Turns out the NGO class can protest outside asylum seeker accommodation and RTÉ will even advertise it for them. 🔗rte.ie 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

Nice palate cleanser to the agenda-fest on in Dublin for St. Patrick's Day. You won't see this float on RTÉ 😂

Plans to picket the plantation site entrance in Newhall after construction workers destroyed the protesters' camp. The site, in a sparsely populated rural area outside Naas, has been earmarked to accommodate 985 migrants in portacabins. #KildareSaysNo 🔗youtube.com 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland
