The foreign man caught on camera posing as a HomeCare worker before allegedly robbing a 89-year-old dementia sufferer in Cabra has been named as Ranilo Canilang and charged with burglary. Described only as a "Dublin dad", the Sunday World reports Canilang has lived in Ireland for 23 years and gave his address as Tyrrelstown. His name suggests he may be from Southeast Asia though—possibly the Philippines, Indonesia, or Thailand—and it's possible he originally came to Ireland on a work visa for the healthcare sector. One member of the public contacted the gardaí and said they recognised him from being a carer for their father while another said they had worked with the man for five years. According to gardaí, the alleged offence was a “premeditated act”.
