Meanwhile investigations are continuing to determine whether a Nigerian asylum seeker is to be charged with sexually assaulting a further 21 elderly residents at a HSE nursing home where he worked as a healthcare assistant. ​Emmanuel Adeniji was sentenced in August 2020 to 11 years in jail for raping a 73-year-old resident of the nursing home with Alzheimer’s Disease. Though the woman made repeated allegations to staff, telling them that Adeniji entered her room at night and was “doing things” to her, none of the allegations were recorded on her file as staff attributed the allegations to hallucinations or mental health issues.
