New CSO data just dropped. There were 57,540 registered births last year. 🔹 72% of mothers who gave birth in Ireland had Irish citizenship. That's down from 75.9% in 2022. 🔹 9.6% were citizens of other EU member states with 7% of that from accession countries. 🔹 1.6% had British citizenship. 🔹16% were from the rest of the world. That's up from 11.6% in 2022. Officially, this is a conspiracy theory—and remember, some mothers with Irish citizenship aren’t Irish, so the percentage of Irish mothers is fewer still, though some small number of mothers with foreign citizenships might be Irish too. 🔗cso.ie 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland
