The editor of one of Ireland’s leading news image agencies says news stories about protests against the government's immigration policies are deliberately spiked by national newspapers because "they seem to think if we ignore it, it will go away". RollingNews editor, Eamonn Farrell, highlighted a recent protest in Naas in which around 300 people marched to oppose 985 Ukrainians being accommodated in 387 cabins on a site in the Newhall area. Despite covering the protest himself, none of his pictures were picked up. "There wasn't a single word in the newspapers about it." Farrell was speaking to Newstalk to complain about being served with a warrant to hand over all the photos his agency took of the turmoil in Dublin on November 23rd, both published and unpublished. Farrell said he worries that the reliance on photojournalists for evidence will escalate the hostility towards them at protests. 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland
