Reminder that asylum seekers from Somalia, Afghanistan, Eritrea, Libya, Sudan, Yemen and Syria are expedited through the asylum system in Ireland and are granted refugee status in 99% of cases. Here are the population figures for those seven countries: 🔹 Somalia 16.36 million 🔹 Afghanistan 39.84 million 🔹 Eritrea 6.08 million 🔹 Libya 6.96 million 🔹 Sudan 44.91 million 🔹 Yemen 20.49 million 🔹 Syria 22.13 million That's a pool of 153 million people who could travel to Ireland, be granted refugee status and then apply for family reunification.
