Garda Commissioner Drew Harris' willingness to make gardaí the target for the anger from communities against government policy is causing serious reputational damage to the force. At 2am last night, gardaí were ordered to break up the protest in Newtownmountkennedy so that a number of trucks carrying equipment for setting up tented accommodation for asylum seekers could enter the River Lodge grounds.
