Nigeria Independence Celebration They said "call it the joyful day" But why not instead the starry night? With the few well fed stars That glowed in peace And the gloomy smoke Which was filled with cries - As eyes of the masses Melted in sorrow, Their stomachs grumbled of hunger And had their hearts Encaged with terror - Shouldn't it be the night of mourning?
