Common shooting errors that affect accuracy when using a handgun. Snatching: Pulling the trigger too quickly or with sudden force. This jerks the gun downward and pulls shots off target. Pushing: Anticipating recoil and unconsciously pushing the gun forward, causing shots to land high or off-center. Heeling: Pressing upward with the heel of your hand while firing, which lifts the muzzle and sends shots above the target. Each of these mistakes results from poor trigger control and anticipation of recoil. Correcting them involves smooth, steady trigger pressure, a firm but relaxed grip, and consistent follow-through to maintain aim.
