In response to the call to Islamic scholars by Al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obeida in his most recent speech, a group of Muslim scholars issue a statement titled "The Statement of the Scholars of the Flood in Response to Abu Obeida," signed by over a dozen organizations. The statement calls for increased support for the Palestinian people as part of the obligation of jihad, whether by armed struggle, financially, spreading awareness, or—as called for by Abu Obeida—cyber attacks on the zionist entity. They stress the importance of a liberatory education, stating that liberation began with Al-Aqsa Flood and it is on everyone to prepare. They also called upon leaders of Arab and Muslim countries for military support for the Palestinian people and to cut ties with the zionist entity, affirming that those who continue to do business with the entity have committed a betrayal. Some excerpts: - We stress the obligation to strive for the liberation of the land, the freedom of prisoners, responding to the doubts raised by hypocrites and detractors, and encouraging people to support their brothers in the holy land and to even lead the efforts in advocacy. - All of Palestine, from the river to the sea, is the land of all Muslims. No one has the right to relinquish it or to concede even an inch of it. The blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in all its parts, space, and everything above and beneath it, is an exclusive right for Muslims, and no one else has any claim to it. - If an enemy invades Islamic land, and the need to repel them exceeds the capabilities of the locals alone, jihad becomes an individual obligation (fard ‘ayn) on its inhabitants and on the Muslims around them, until sufficient strength is gathered and the occupier is defeated. - The jihad in Palestine is defensive jihad, and it is an individual obligation after it has become clear that sufficiency (fard kifaya) cannot be achieved without the entire nation participating in the battle. This obligation applies to rulers, subjects, groups, and individuals, and the greater one's ability to act and influence, the more severe and imperative the obligation becomes. - It is the duty of all Arab and Islamic leaders to declare general mobilization and move their armies to repel the zionist aggression and liberate the holy sites. If they do not, the least obligation is to support their Muslim brothers in Palestine by all means. They must also combat the zionist presence in Palestine. - All normalization agreements with the zionist enemy are religiously prohibited, null, and void. They do not bind Muslims in the least, and it is forbidden to accept them or recognize any form of security built upon them. - Muslims are under no obligation to listen to or obey any regime or ruler that prevents them from supporting their Muslim brothers who are fighting jihad by all means. On the contrary, Muslims must resist such circumstances and exert all their efforts and energy toward this cause, as there is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to the Creator.
