In 1785, Thomas Jefferson accurately observed that Africans with European admixture are (generally) more intelligent than their non-mixed kin: "The improvement of the blacks in body and mind, in the first instance of their mixture with the whites, has been observed by every one" (Notes on the State of Virginia) This was confirmed in 2019 by a genetic study titled Global Ancestry and Cognitive Ability.
