Rotation speeds of planets around their axis relative to the stars (sidereal day) 🌍 Planets rotate because they formed from moving material. Angular momentum must be conserved, so planets acquired their own rotation. The larger the planet, the more material was needed to create it. And the more material, the higher the rotation speed. (Notice the rotation speed of Jupiter and Saturn).
