Greece, Santorini Island🇬🇷 The architecture of Santorini Island is a vivid example of the combination of human imagination and adaptation to the natural conditions. The architecture visually impresses with the integrity of the composition since the island officially allows the use of a limited number of colors to decorate houses. Therefore, the walls of the houses are mostly white, and the roofs are blue, yellow, or pink. Often, the steps of one house lead to the roof of another house, and the roofs of some houses serve as verandas for the houses above. Due to the volcanic nature of the island, only low-rise buildings are allowed. Houses are separated by narrow streets and steep staircases. All of this is designed to protect against possible earthquakes.
