Italy, Monastery of Santa Caterina del Sasso🇮🇹 The Monastery of Santa Caterina del Sasso, built in the 13th century, is located on the shores of Lake Maggiore near the town of Leggiuno. Previously, this place was remote and inhabited only by hermit monks. Now, you can reach it both by lake and by land, but only from the lake does this mesmerizing view open up. The structure of the monastery is unique, consisting of three buildings built in three different eras. The first building is the Southern Female Monastery (14th - 17th centuries), followed by a small monastery (13th century), where the area beneath the windows of the first floor is adorned with a long fresco from the 17th century inspired by the "Dance of Death," and finally, the church, which includes the chapel of Santa Caterina. ⛰🕍 #Italy @voyage
