Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 Big Almaty Lake - a picturesque reservoir located in the foothills of the Zailiysky Alatau, 15 km south of the city of Almaty. 🏞️ The formation of the lake was caused by a major earthquake, which resulted in the collapse of mountain slopes and the formation of a landslide dam in the riverbed. Big Almaty Lake lies in a deep tectonic depression.
