🇬🇧#UK: The British Government is launching a new paid "gap year" military scheme for under 25s, designated for school and college leavers to experience service in the Army, Royal Navy or RAF without a long term commitment. John Healey, UK's Defence Secretary, said the program is part of a "whole-of-society" approach to defence and detterence, including efforts to prevent a potential confrontation with Russia. Ultimately, this scheme is also intended to ease long term recruitment shortages and encourage some participants to remain in the armed forces. The officials have yet to announce a salary, but they expect to attract 1.000 young people a year. (via BBC)
