#UAE, #Ukraine discuss defense cooperation agreement
Addis Abeba — Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are finalizing an agreement on “security and defence” cooperation following talks with uAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In a post on Telegram, Zelenskyy said the two sides are working toward a strategic partnership. “We are open to joint work, which in a strategic perspective will definitely strengthen our people and the protection of life in our states,” he said.
The discussions come amid growing interest among Gulf countries in Ukraine’s defense capabilities, particularly its battlefield-tested drone technologies.
Ukraine has emerged as a key producer of advanced drone interceptors, developed in response to sustained aerial attacks since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, during which Russia has deployed large numbers of Iranian-made drones targeting Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv.

Footage shows a large cloud of smoke rising from the central area of the financial hub. Some reports mention that one of the buildings was struck after UAE air defence shot down several Iranian drones.

🇮🇷#Iran - 🇦🇪#UAE: Footage shows plumes of smoke rising from Sharjah, as well as alleged impacts in Dubai after reports of an ongoing large scale combined missile and drone attack launched by Iran.
Meanwhile, despite circulating footage and regional reports of loud explosions, Dubai’s media office (@DXBMediaOffice on X) stated that the sounds were due to "successful interceptions".
🇺🇦#Ukraine: Ukrainian soldier Nazar Daletskyi was photographed staring at his own grave on February of this year in a small cemetery in the village of Velykyi Doroshiv after he had been presumed dead for nearly three years.
Due to a DNA mismatch involving the remains of another soldier, Daletskyi’s family was wrongly informed that he had been killed in action and buried what they believed were his remains. In reality, he had been held in Russian captivity before eventually being released in a prisoner-of-war exchange.

🇺🇦#Ukraine: Footage shows the aftermath of today’s mass shooting in Kyiv.
The number of people who have lost their lives has risen to five. Four people were shot dead outside the supermarket, while one person was killed inside after the shooter barricaded himself.

The shooter was allegedly born in Moscow and held Ukrainian citizenship. He previously lived in Bakhmut and later moved to Kyiv. He was armed with a legally acquired Kel-Tec rifle, which can be seen in the second attached picture.

🇺🇦#Ukraine: An armed gunman has opened fire in Kyiv, injuring several people and killing at least four.
The gunman has reportedly barricaded himself inside a supermarket. Initial reports indicate it is a Velmart store in the Demiivska area.
Police are said to be preparing to storm the premises, as the shooter has allegedly taken hostages.
🇺🇦#Ukraine: The SBU has detained a "foreign hitman" in Odesa following a failed plot to assassinate a high-ranking Ukrainian Navy officer yesterday.
The suspect, who was reportedly acting on orders from Russia, was armed with a pistol and two magazines and was waiting near the exit of a residential complex where the officer lives. Posing as someone repairing a bicycle, the assailant wore a balaclava and waited for his target to arrive.
When the vehicle approached, he threw the bicycle under the car and attempted to open fire. However, he was immediately detained by the SBU, which had reportedly been tracking him for some time.
It is reported that the suspect is from the Balkans and had been instructed by Russian handlers to retrieve a hidden cache containing the pistol, magazines, and a suppressor.
