In the political and cultural context of the U.S., “the swamp” is a metaphor for: • corruption, bureaucracy, and backroom deals in Washington — or more broadly, the political quagmire where everything moves slowly, opaquely, and under the influence of big money. This metaphor was popularized by Donald Trump, who famously promised to “drain the swamp,” referring to his pledge to fight corruption in the federal government. ⚠️ A word of caution: When crypto enters the realm of high politics, it’s no longer a battle of ideals — it becomes a battle of interests.
