Anatomy of a Revolution by Ex Libris What causes a political revolution? Once a revolution breaks out, what are the internal stages of its development? At a glance, the circumstances and content of any given political situation make each revolution seem unique—each is separated by a diversity of grievances, geographical conditions, ideological interpretations, and revolutionary aims. But by stepping back and viewing each revolution as a social process rather than a historical event, deeper structural affinities begin to emerge.
