Russia has enacted legislation allowing authorities to seize cryptocurrency assets in criminal investigations. This legal framework, approved by a government commission and amending the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes, treats cryptocurrency as property and enables investigators to prevent further illicit transactions. The seizure can occur either through physical confiscation of devices storing cryptocurrency (cold wallets) or by transferring funds to a secure, designated address (hot wallets).
