Vietnam seeks to ban Telegram in the country by June 2 Reuters. The Vietnamese Ministry of Technology has directed telecom providers to block access to the messaging platform Telegram. The reason for this action is Telegram’s alleged failure to cooperate in addressing criminal activities conducted by its users. The ministry has also requested a report on these activities by June 2. The directive was issued on behalf of Vietnam’s cybersecurity department, following reports from law enforcement officials. They stated that 68% of the 9,600 Telegram channels and groups operating in the country were involved in illegal activities such as fraud, drug trafficking, and suspected terrorism-related cases.
