Imagine seeing infrared, even with your eyes shut! A new contact lens developed by Chinese scientists makes this possible. This innovative lens uses nanomaterials to convert unseen infrared light into visible signals, enabling users to perceive things like Morse code in absolute darkness. Remarkably, it achieves this without needing an external power source, relying solely on near-infrared LEDs. Though it can't yet 'see' body heat, its capabilities extend to wavelengths of 1600 nanometers, opening doors for applications in aiding the colorblind, bolstering security, facilitating rescue missions, and improving anti-counterfeiting efforts.
