In 2021 and 2022 Doyle had a very popular YouTube channel while I was languishing in complete censorship. He had amassed almost 400k subscribers, racking up millions of views, making pretty good money, all while making original Groyper-adjacent or Groyper Lite content. Him and I both came up as censorship was steadily escalating and the "meta" strategy at that time was to try our best to adhere to ToS by dogwhistling or avoiding edgier topics, but of course all of that changed at the end of 2022 when Elon Musk bought Twitter and by 2024, all of the tech platforms began to liberalize. Around the beginning of 2022 iirc, Doyle moved down to DFW and got contracted with the Blaze to appear on a few shows each month in the hopes of one day landing his own show or even making a leap to DailyWire. He saw how DailyWire transformed Matt Walsh into a superstar and he modeled his career off of that arc. For one reason or another, he effectively took a hiatus from YouTube and mostly stopped uploading content for 18-24 months. His appearances on the Blaze abruptly ceased almost altogether, and slowly his momentum ground to a halt. When he returned to consistent uploads last year, the viewers did not return. It was also clear that he had become intellectually stunted and had not refined, developed, or progressed any of his views. He has been perpetually stuck in 2021 with his memes and "ideas." I'm unsure if this is due to the influence of his mentors, or if he was trying to differentiate himself from me out of spite, or maybe he's just dumb. Now the hour is late and he has only just been able to capitalize on an opportunity to host a show at the Blaze 3 years into his engagement with them, and the youth and society have blown right past him and the network which he thought could propel him into the mainstream. What if he had continued making independent, original YouTube content, remained a "Groyper Gateway" on YouTube and Twitter, and continuously refined his ideas? There is no doubt he would be much better off. There is a lesson in this: you have to skate to where the puck is going, not where it is. I was able to succeed in spite of embracing the most controversial positions because I saw the trajectory of where things were headed. I read between the lines and saw the tension and the contradictions which contained potential energy. Doyle tried to cargo cult Matt Walsh. Big diff.
