The GOP hated this policy and doubled down on the free trade/open borders ideology that haunts it to this day. You will never hear The Pride is Back in place of that Lee Greenwood track at political rallies. (The song is hopelessly out of print despite having Kenny Rogers. Spotify doesn't have it.) Today, Chrysler is now controlled by a Dutch multinational, her CEO has an MBA from Brazil, and the pride is gone. The company now uses the p-word to promote LGBTQ causes.
