🇮🇱The war in the Gaza Strip: A Surprise Attack(Part 1) On October 7th, 2023, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel. The Israeli security service, the Shabak, failed to alert the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) of the attack. Also, the Gaza-Israel barrier, sometimes called the Iron Wall, did not protect the border as it should have. There were not enough military personnel at key locations, and many of them were young girls who could not fight against the Palestinian militants. The IDF did not have enough units near the Iron wall, and nobody was there to stop the Palestinian fighters as they crossed the Gaza border. Between October 7 and 9, Hamas destroyed several Israeli settlements near the Gaza boundary, killing thousands of Israelis and taking hundreds of people prisoner. By October 10, the IDF gathered reinforcements and pushed the militants back. The whole Israeli mobilization process to call up 300,000 reservists was a failure. The reservists were not told when and where they were needed to report, and people organized themselves to arrive at the collection points without any information. The IDF's warehouses and armories were also not prepared for the mobilization, and many reservists did not have enough equipment or weapons. They even had to buy what they needed with their own money or through donations from volunteers. IDF's leadership did not have any military operation plans for war with Hamas, so the ground operation in Gaza was delayed for almost three weeks as they rushed to develop their plans. 🇮🇷🇮🇱Iran-Israel war can become nuclear So, as we've already said, the military conflict between Israel and Iran has been unleashed. Israel managed to shoot down most of the drones launched by Iran. However, Fattah medium-range hypersonic ballistic missiles successfully penetrated Israel's missile defence system. The Fattah missile can reach a speed of Mach 13; Israeli anti-missile defence systems like MIM-104 Patriot, THAAD are not capable of shooting down targets moving at such speed despite these systems (i.e. Patriot 3 with the AN/TPY-2 X-band surveillance and targeting radar) being modified to defend against the Iranian medium-range ballistic missile threat. At least six hypersonic missiles hit their targets at Nevatim Air Base, but IDF's military censorship is masking the scale of damage. Iran's missile capabilities are based on their partnership with North Korea. These countries also cooperate in nuclear technology. The DPRK has several dozen nuclear warheads and is capable of producing up to 6 warheads per year. The power of the last North Korean nuclear weapons test explosion in 2017 was up to 100 kilotons, according to Japanese seismic reports. Fattah hypersonic missiles can carry a payload weighing up to 450 kgs (990 pounds), which is enough to deliver a nuclear warhead. It is highly likely that the North Korean partners have already supplied several warheads to their Iranian partners. Thus, Iran may have nuclear warheads with a capacity of at least 100 kilotons and proper carriers which are capable of breaking Israel's missile defence. The explosion of a nuclear charge with a capacity of 100 kilotons can almost completely destroy a city like Tel Aviv causing hundreds of thousands of casualties. Israel also has significant nuclear capabilities; according to the Federation of American Scientists, the IDF is armed with 90 nuclear warheads. A single successful strike could trigger a national emergency within 48 hours. • Qatar: 99% of water is desalinated. The country hosts Al Udeid, the largest U.S. air base in the world. • Bahrain: 90% of water is desalinated. It is home to the U.S. Fifth Fleet. Desalination plants are large, fixed industrial facilities. They cannot be moved or concealed — and they are within reach of Iran’s cheapest weapons: drones costing around $20,000 each. Iran would not need hypersonic missiles to destroy desalination infrastructure worth roughly $2 billion per facility. If these plants were hit across the Gulf states, the spike in oil prices would quickly become the least of the world’s concerns — a humanitarian crisis of biblical proportions could follow. 🇺🇦The fall of Kharkiv could be the end of Ukraine. While Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was playing guitar in Kyiv, a Russian group of troops "North" launched an attack in the Kharkiv region. This group was formed in April 2022 and consists of at least 50,000 soldiers. Interestingly, the tactical insignia for the "Group North" is similar to that of the Gungnir rune from Norse mythology. Currently, the Russians have 15 battalions attacking, which is less than 30% of their total force on the Kharkiv front. Within a few days, they advanced 5 miles into Ukrainian territory. In the village of Strelecha near the border, a company of Ukrainians tried to hold off two Russian battalions but failed. The village was occupied by the Russians within a day. The Ukrainian armed forces quickly transferred the 57th Mechanized Brigade and 92nd Assault Brigade from the Lyman area to the Kharkiv area in order to slow down Russian advances. The chief of AFU military intelligence, General Kyrylo Budanov, said thatUkraine's forces are stretched thin and have minimal reserves to draw upon. The Russian offensive poses a threat to Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, whose loss would be a devastating blow for the country. The Russians have two operational objectives: the first is to reach the outskirts of Kharkiv from the north, and the second is an offensive in the eastern part of the region, occupying Vovchansk before moving on to Kupiansk. If they achieve these objectives, their "North" and "West" groups will unite and they will have sufficient forces to encircle and assault Kharkiv.
