One of the most unforgettable winter fashion shows was Chanel’s in 2010. For the new autumn/winter collection titled “Iceberg Runway,” the centerpiece was a real 265-ton iceberg brought all the way from Sweden and installed inside Paris’s Grand Palais. Karl Lagerfeld orchestrated this striking setup to draw attention to the issue of climate change. In an interview, he said: “Global warming is the issue of our time. Fashion should respond to it.” As models walked the runway, the melting iceberg gradually turned the stage into pools of water. The collection itself focused on knits and bold, statement accessories.
