Glenn Martens has been named the new creative director of Maison Margiela, succeeding John Galliano — but what else do we know? According to Vogue Business, Renzo Rosso, chairman of OTB Group, expressed strong confidence in Martens’ talent, highlighting his innovative vision for haute couture. It’s also confirmed that Martens will remain creative director of Diesel, a role in which he’s significantly boosted the brand’s sales and global appeal. His appointment follows his departure from Y/Project in September 2024 and a successful collaboration as a guest designer for Jean-Paul Gaultier’s couture collection. This move is particularly resonant for Maison Margiela: both Martin Margiela and Glenn Martens are alumni of the Antwerp Academy and began their careers under Jean-Paul Gaultier. There’s strong anticipation that Martens will bring his bold, avant-garde perspective to the iconic house, shaping its next creative chapter. FirstPass
