In germany there is a group called FreieDeutscheGesellschaft.org Experimenting with the LoRa technology. https://t.me/FDG_Portal loRa is super effective in Cities, but not in the countryside. Therefore we switched to the Reticulum Protocol, which allows us to use litte computers like raspberrypi as Gateways, for connecting Lora, CB, Wifi and even more. First we tried Meshtastic, but there were many problems with messaging using many nodes. Nodes not waking up after sleeping for some time. And many problems with the APP, and interoperabilities. So we decided to stop the complete Process, because we needed a strong base first, before expanding. We found reticulum was better in many ways for this usecase, since then we are using it. https://github.com/markqvist/Reticulum Hw list: https://t.me/NoGoolag/11676 #communications#im#lora

Texting with Zero Cell Service? What a Meshtastic Idea! LoRa and GPS For Off-Grid Communication https://meshtastic.org https://youtu.be/gqAsWtIjHUY In this video I discuss the Meshtastic project and what kinds of features it has. It is an off-grid texting mesh network using inexpensive LoRa boards. for 10-20 dollars each you can buy a few radios and setup a way to communicate if you don't have cell phone service in a remote area. With GPS, you can even see where everyone in your group is at on a map #meshtatic#im#p2p#lora

The Internet, Reinvented. In this video, I build a #Reticulum#RNode and prove that completely different radios — #LoRa and Wi-Fi — can communicate through a hardware-agnostic networking stack. Reticulum routes traffic above the radio layer, automatically bridging dissimilar frequencies, interfaces, and modulation types. I then run it over Wi-Fi HaLow Haven nodes to create a long-range, encrypted IP #mesh with no traditional infrastructure. Finally, I push it further by running #ATAK across the network, demonstrating a fully open-source, decentralized communication stack in action. Checkout https://rmap.world/ You can install rnode software on your esp32/nrf52 based meshtastic/meshcore hardware

There's a newcomer to the Mesh world In this video we introduce #Meshcore, a powerful open-source, text-based encrypted mesh-radio system built on #LoRa hardware—perfect for off-grid communications on your homestead or preparedness setup. #Meshtastic fans will find Meshcore instantly familiar — a low-cost, open-source way to stay connected when the internet and cell service aren’t available. But Meshcore takes a few different paths, and we’ll break it down in plain English. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaFltojJrAc Edit: not fully foss ⚠️ MeshCore is not entirely open source, which seems odd for an off-grid decentralized communications framework. Some parts are open, but the official clients (the mobile apps, web app, and T-Deck firmware) are not https://hackaday.com/2025/12/06/lessons-learned-after-trying-meshcore-for-off-grid-text-messaging/ #mesh#p2p#im
