I bought a very old MacBook Pro (2011) in almost-dead condition. 🛍 I opened it up and saw that the original hard disk was fried. I bought a new hard disk (yes, I’m broke for SSD 😭), and then found out the data cable was also dead that’s why the new hard disk wasn’t getting detected. I ordered a new SATA 2 cable from mungu.in (huge thanks to them, they delivered it to my house within 18 hours from Delhi to my city). 🗳 So after all that fixing, I booted into Linux Mint and surprisingly it runs very smoothly now. The laptop’s condition is actually good even though it’s a 15-year-old machine. 👴 So guys now that I have this old thing (everything cost me around ~$30), suggest how I should use it: - superheavy paperweight 🪨 - home server 🖥 - use it as an expensive (is it?) and slowest enclosure for the new hard disk 💿 - turn my 25yr old printer into wifi printer so I can send printouts from my phone 🖨 - some other random IoT usage 🤖 - anything else ? drop your ideas in the comments 🔎
