F-Droid Gets Faster Repo Updates with New Repository Format @takebackourtech | SOURCE Ever wait forever for F-Droid to 'load' its apps? That's because F-Droid is loading its repository index, which includes a list of all 4056 apps and their metadata (including where to connect to download them). Good news, F-Droid has just released (March 1st) version 1.16 of the F-Droid client that uses a new repository format. The new app will determine what has changed and download the 'difference' files which contain only the changes. This means you are downloading a file 1/100th of the size. I just tested the speed differences, the download went from 3 minutes to a few seconds. Technical details and more info here: https://f-droid.org/en/2023/03/01/new-repo-format-faster-smaller-updates.html Its also interesting to see that these latest updates were supported by a grant from the Filecoin Foundation - the same organization behind IPFS. ⚡️Follow |🗣Discuss | 📩Newsletter
